Dear Friends & Neighbors,
Our names are Eric Lignell and Richard “Rick” Thoren, and we have called Metuchen home for over two decades.
Currently, the mayor and all council members are Democrats, and all vote the same way, regardless of whether it is right for the borough. And this just isn’t right!
We are running for Metuchen Council because we love our small town and believe this deliberative body crucially needs balance.
We don’t just want to complain about it, we want to get a “seat at the table” to advocate for YOU and to help guide future borough plans.
We know you agree that to have our COMMONSENSE Republican voices heard, we must WIN TWO seats on the Metuchen Council.
If elected, we will push for fiscal responsibility and transparency with borough projects moving forward like the unchecked approvals of multimillion dollar building contracts taxing our already overburdened system, the failing Metuchen Jersey Avenue Pump Station, and the Metuchen Municipal Pool Renovation. Residents and businesses are being kept in the dark and our council should consider varying viewpoints and all options with resident, business, and first responder input before major decisions are made.
Like you, we did not move our families to this wonderful town thinking our taxes would go up more than our salaries, or that we would have to wait and sit in traffic every morning, or that our tax dollars would be pumped into one-party Democrat rule vanity projects.
Help us guide Metuchen in the right direction.
